The increasing demand for the services of the Food Consultancy Groups in Cebu and Negros pointed to the need for both groups to expand and acquire more members from the academe, industries and government regulatory bodies. Interested applicants were interviewed by the core members of CFCG and NFCG in the months of March and April 2015.
The Cebu team of interviewers was comprised by Mr. Dietmar Speckmaier, AFOS–OURFood Team Leader together with Engr. Rendell C. Barcimo, Engr. Tristan Abando and Ms. Marion Bencito. Prospective members were representatives from the Department of Agriculture, Alfa-All Food Asia, Inc., Anita’s Home Bakeshop, Inc., Cebu City Health Office, Cebu Doctor’s University, Cebu Institute Of Technology University, Cebu Technological University, HOREC Plus Distribution Corporation, Inc., Julie’s Franchise Corporation, University of San Carlos and Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.
For NFCG, interviewers were comprised by Engr. Rendell C. Barcimo, Ms. Marivic P. Rio, Ms. Reneelou Balaba and Dr. Ana Maria Isabel V. Salacata, NFCG Team Leader. Applicants for membership were the University of St. La Salle, First Farmers Holding Corporation, Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc., San Miguel Brewery, Inc., Metro
Gaisano, Herbanext Laboratories, Inc., La Consolacion College, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College and Riverside College, Inc.
Aspirants were screened based on educational background, relevant trainings and seminars attended, communication skills, availability and commitment. The expansion was primarily aimed at creating a critical mass of food safety experts in the islands of Negros and Cebu.
A levelling-off training on food safety will be conducted for the chosen aspirants in May 2015.
