The OURFood Program’s ultimate goal for the farmers in the supply chain is to improve their income sustainably. Our strategy is to train farmers on food safety standards (basic) and get the necessary qualification or certification so that they can access high value markets or sustainable markets.
We train farmers on how to comply with Philippine Good Agricultural Practices(PhilGAP), a food safety standard aligned with international standards such as ASEANGAP and GlobalGAP. The certification is accorded by the Bureau of Agriculture and Fishery Standards (BAFS).
We also link our farmers to the Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) for network and linkages to possible markets.
The PhilGAP Certification is also a preparation for shifting to organic practices or alignment. Organic products command better price in the fresh market as well as address the organic market demand in the Philippines.
